Part of the ’90s Seattle grunge triumvirate completed by Nirvana and Soundgarden, Pearl Jam debuted with Ten, their most accessible, least self-conscious album. Over time, PJ’s rep as a politically correct band just a little too above it all to prostitute its music on MTV has nearly superseded the music. But before that, they were a simply an in-your-face, in-your-head, loud, melodic rock band. And lead singer Eddie Vedder was known for his possessed stag… More >>

I can’t stand one moment of Pearl Jam. They are very lousy and Vedder sings even more worse. Grunge is the worst most pathetic genre in the world. Ten is horrible, stay away from this as well as albums by GNR, Nirvana, and Pink Floyd. Don’t listen to the 5 star reviewers, Peral jam are terrible whereas Foreigner are the greatest with a lovely song in Waiting For A Girl Like You. Avoid this and go with Foreigner 4 insted.

Yeah yeah, Pearl Jam may have came out first…but Creed and Nickelback sound hell of a lot better. Plus, Pearl Jam.. what a dumb name! And the lyrics/vocals are a complete failure to the brilliance of modern rock heroes Chad Kroeger and Fred Durst.
BTW: ‘Jeremy’ is a terrible song!

this is the worst piece of crap ever. i HATE pearl jam. they are complete poseurs off of nirvana and soundgarden. they are so bad i cant even explain. the guitars sound like a baby crying, and eddie vedder’s voice sounds like….well it sounds like a baby cry as well. if you want REAL grunge, check out stone temple pilots, nirvana, soundgarden, alice in chains, and default. DOWN WITH PEARL HAM!

The music here itself is OK at best. The guitarring is not bad, though nothing special, but certainly decent. The bass and the drums are average. But the songwriting here sucks big donkey balls as the album is incredibly slow and dull. Trust me, I tried to like this but there isnt a singe song on this CD I could listen without hitting either the skip or the stop button. It’s a lot better than Nirvana though. But it’s still not that good. The vocals here are just plain awful, and so are the lyrics. As Eddie Vedder sounds like some dog on crack. I don’t know, is Eddie trying to appeal to some bunch of nerds who can’t get over the fact that grunge is dead or what? Okay, I’ll give it that, the solo on Alive is pretty good, even great but other than that there is absolutely nothing I can recommend it for. Maybe for a cure for insomnia this will be good though.
If you want great 90’s rock, go for Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Megadeth, Dream Theater, and maybe Morbid Angel and Death if you can take that intensity. For good grunge, while it’s hard to find, go for Alice in Chains or Stone Temple Pilots, and move over Pearl Jam.

Pearl Jam ruled the world. And this album was so great, and Eddie Vedder was such a genious. And now its about 10 years later and this album sounds terrible because its too emotional. The best thing about “grudge” music was apathy, and this record cares too much. The guitar solos are too virtuous, and the fact that the album cover is pink always bothered me. In fact, what is the band doing, on that album cover? The Pearl Jam has made several bad decisions over the years. I recommend listening to maroon 9, stained, and lincoln park, instead.
